Picasso’s birthplace has been an official heritage site since 1983. It was built in 1861, and Picasso was born there in 1881. Picasso lived in Málaga until he was 10 years old, and the city had a profound effect on his memories, his personality, and his work. Tickets to the Picasso Birthplace Museum offer a themed tour that highlights the family, social, and cultural ties between Pablo Picasso and Málaga. Throughout nine galleries, you’ll explore Picasso’s formative years and learn about his family environment, including a recreation of his father’s studio—where Picasso took his first steps as an artist—as well as galleries focused on different themes, such as bullfighting, the Mediterranean, and pigeons, among others.
